As you see, we use the simple past after the verb wish to express a present situation we want to be different (1)

As you see, we use
the simple past
after the verb
wish
to Express a present situation we want to be different (1) or events(2). We can use
if only
instead of
I wish
to state our wish emphatically.(3,6)
We use the
past perfect
after the verb
wish
to express regret about unreal past situations (4) or events (5), that is, something happened or didnt happen in the past.
